After countering the issue of link spam at Google, Matt Cutts has decided to move on to pastures new in a shock move to Yahoo.
Cutts, formerly Head of Google’s Webspam team, said of his move: “I’ve been fighting spam for many years at Google, and given the great successes we have had in recent years, I felt it was time for a change. I need a new challenge and for me the biggest opportunity has to be helping Yahoo.”
“Given their terrible performance in competing with Google over the years, I have a monumental task ahead. However, if I am ever going to make it into the internet hall of fame, alongside such luminaries as Tim Berners-Lee, then I see such a bold move as the right one for me. It’s going to be one hell of a journey and you can be sure that there will be many haircuts along the way.”
He continued, “But I feel confident that with the right team behind me, we can bring this dead dodo of a search engine back from the abyss and back to where it rightfully belongs. And don’t even get me started on the Chinese!”
We await any comment from Google.
